Shortly after his picture ran in the news, Williams surrendered to the Athlone SAPS on Monday, saying he had read about his wanted status there. After months of searching, Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Pretorius sought assistance from the Daily Voice in his pursuit of Williams. The vet was praised for his altruism and willingness to prioritize the needs of others before his own. The town was rocked by his passing. The prosecution claims that a family member rushed after Natheem's assailant before coming back to aid him. According to reports, the suspect further solidified his identity as the offender by posting a selfie of himself online.
